In over ten years as a practicing attorney, Asli Carome has established herself as a successful patent litigator. During that time, Ms. Carome has handled numerous complex intellectual property matters, and represented a wide range of high-technology clients, including clients in telecommunications, optical devices, liquid crystal displays, and software. Ms. Carome has in-depth knowledge of patent litigation, licensing and contracts, and has also handled trade secret, copyright, and trademark disputes. With an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, a master’s degree in business administration, and experience as a financial analyst, Ms. Carome has a unique understanding of the technical and business implications of technology-driven business disputes.

Ms. Carome now focuses her practice on mediation and arbitration. With her extensive intellectual property background, Ms. Carome knows the stakes involved in complex intellectual property disputes. She understands the risks as well as the costs attendant to any patent litigation, and can help parties navigate through potential outcomes to reach an agreeable result in mediation. Because of her business and litigation background, she is able to cut to the chase in a wide range of complex business disputes, enabling the parties to efficiently focus on and resolve key issues. Her substantial experience allows her to effectively arbitrate a wide range of intellectual property and business cases. Moreover, Ms. Carome practices international arbitration and mediation, with a particular focus on negotiation and arbitration with Turkish firms and businesses.

Memberships and Activities

Ms. Carome is a neutral of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), and a member of the AAA’s Intellectual Property Panel and Commercial Panel. She has completed AAA’s Arbitration Best Practices Training. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association. She is a member of the Giles Sutherland Rich American Inn of Court.

Ms. Carome also provides pro bono legal and mediation services in divorce and child custody proceedings in D.C. Superior Court. She is a member of the bar of the State of California, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Education

Ms. Carome obtained a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.B.A. from Babson College, and a J.D. from George Mason University. Ms. Carome is fluent in Turkish.
